Government of Canada Says Sorry to First Nations

The Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development has released a report on the history and current state of the First Nations in Canada.

The report, entitled "First Nations in Canada: A Historical Overview," is the first comprehensive study of the First Nations people in over 20 years.

The report found that the First Nations people have a long and rich history in Canada, dating back thousands of years. The report also found that the First Nations people have faced many challenges over the years, including discrimination, poverty, and violence.

The report makes a number of recommendations to address the challenges faced by the First Nations people. These recommendations include increasing funding for First Nations education, health care, and housing; providing more support for First Nations businesses; and working with First Nations communities to develop new economic opportunities.

The Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development has accepted the recommendations of the report and is working to implement them. The Department is also working to build stronger relationships with the First Nations people and to ensure that their voices are heard in government decision-making.
